Christopher Lee Balvanz, 18, of Hawkeye, died Thursday, May 26, 2016, as a result of an accidental drowning.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Hauth Park in Hawkeye with Rev. David R. Nelson officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 30, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye and for one hour preceding services at the park on Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to the family at 106 E. Burger St. Hawkeye, Iowa 52147.
Christopher Lee, son of Martin Lee and Tammy Balvanz, was born, October 14, 1997, at Waterloo, Iowa. He was baptized in Waterloo. He was currently a Senior at Sumner-Fredericksburg High School. Christopher enjoyed video games, hunting, hanging out with friends and especially enjoyed fishing with his dad. He was always there to help anyone he could, whether he knew them for a long time or just met them.
Christopher is survived by his parents, Martin (Yvonne Ellefson) Balvanz of Hawkeye and Tammy (Jeff Weber) Balvanz of Waterloo; five siblings, John (Katie) Balvanz of Jesup, Angela (Denny Kamp, Jr.) Balvanz of West Union, Tim Balvanz of Waterloo, and David and Dan Ellefson of Lansing; Grandparents, Evelyn Primmer of Waterloo, and Mel (Lynda) Primmer of New Hartford; aunts and uncles, Charie Vetter of Nevada, Barb Cozad of Arizona, Pam Piccolo, Virginia (Kurt) Krull, Roxanne Hemmer of Waterloo, Randy (Judy) Hankins of Cedar Rapids, Tena Lindgren, Deb (Mike) Overmann, Mikell Hankins, and Rodney Hankins; numerous cousins; and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joan (Earl) Hankins, and Leroy Johnston; great-grandparents, Josephine (Thomas) Levendusky; and a cousin, Amanda Cozad.
